About Me

I am currently a practicing 4th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. I am a partner in a local school (Ichigeki Karate), and my ranking instructor is Master John Barton of King Cobra Karate.

I have studied martial arts since I was 11 years old (30+ years ago!). During middle school and high school, I studied Kung Fu (Wing Chun) under my first instructor N. Wong. I wrestled in middle/high school, then studied Tang Soo Do in college while here in the US (to red belt level), I went to Japan to continue my college education at Kansai University, where I joined a martial arts club. After college, I studied kick boxing at a small school in Los Angeles, then I started training in catch wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and Lucha before entering MMA in 1994.  I retired from MMA in 1997. A year later I began training in Shotokan and have been happily doing so ever since! Near the end of 2006 my partner Sensei Mark and I opened up our own school, and we officially became affiliated with Master Barton of King Cobra Karate.

Quite a history! I have always loved martial arts, it has always been a part of my life and I plan to continue with it for many years to come!
